Footnotes to endnotes (CC2018) Convert a document's footnotes to InDesign's native endnotes. To convert one footnote to an endnote: At the bottom of the page, right-click the text of a footnote, and then click Convert to Endnote. If you have both footnotes and endnotes defined in your document, Word displays the View Footnotes (Word 2007) or Show Notes (Word 2010) dialog box. Display the References tab of the ribbon. Open a new, blank document and paste (Ctrl+V) the endnotes to the new document. Press Ctrl+C to copy the endnotes to the Clipboard. All the endnotes in the document should now be selected. Hold down the Shift key as you click at the end of the last endnote. Finally, click Convert all footnotes to endnotes. To change the footnote separator, follow these steps: Make sure you are viewing your document in Draft view. Scroll to the end of the endnotes, so you can see the last one on the screen. But for hundreds, and back-and-forth between note style (as writers often need to do for submitting the same piece to different editors), this is very tedious. At the bottom of a page, right-click the footnote text area, click Note Options, and then click Convert. This works in the other direction as well: double-clicking the endnote number inside the endnote moves the insertion back to the endnote in the body of the document. This is fine for a few notes, even a few dozen. As you know, you can double-click the endnote number in the main body of the text to move the insertion point to the endnote text. Footnotes to endnotes (pre-CC2018) The script described here converts a document's footnotes to dynamically numbered endnotes using cross-references. There is a relatively convenient way to manually edit a footnote (or endnote) and change it to an endnote (or footnote). Dear All, I need to insert footnotes/endnotes in MS Word in square brackets: 1, 2, and so on.
